DESPACHO CEREMONY
A Ritual of Gratitude, Healing & Reciprocity

What is a Despacho?

A Despacho is a sacred offering — a ritual of prayer and beauty from the high Andes, carried through generations by the Q’ero lineage.
It is a way of entering into right relationship (ayni) with the seen and unseen worlds, honouring the living web that holds us all.

At the Shamanic Yoga Institute, we create despachos in many forms — within our trainings, community gatherings, and moments of transition.
Each ceremony becomes a tapestry of gratitude, release, and intention, guided by the rhythms of the Earth and the prayer of the heart.

“Ayni — sacred reciprocity — is the heartbeat of the world. The despacho teaches us how to listen.”

THE CEREMONY

In ceremony, we gather in sacred circle — heart to heart, hand to Earth.
Through breath, prayer, and song, we awaken the remembering that we are nature praying to itself.
Each participant brings a piece of their life — a story, a hope, a grief, a seed of gratitude — and places it upon the mandala of offerings.

The creation of the despacho becomes a meditation in motion:
a weaving of energies, colours, and intentions that reflect the beauty and complexity of life itself.
The circle slows. The mind softens. What was fragmented begins to return to wholeness.

As our prayers take form through petals, seeds, and sugar, we remember that healing is not about fixing — it is about remembering our belonging.
Each offering becomes a gesture of reciprocity, a thank-you to the living forces that sustain us.

When the despacho is complete, it is bound with care — a bundle of love and luminous intention — and offered to the elements:

    • By burning: To release prayers into the spiritual realm.
    • By burying: To connect deeply with the earth.
    • To the waters: To allow for flow and cleansing.
