Why We Host

A Global Field of Relationship
Featured Relationships in the Life of the School
Mandakini Puri Rox
Traditional Himalayan Hatha Yoga | Santosh Puri Ashram, India
Michele Tagart
Ceremony and Song | Sacred Mestizo Lineage
Michele is a trusted relationship in the life of the school. Her work is shaped by long devotion within the sacred Mestizo lineage and by years of living close to the land in Costa Rica, where she stewards a regenerative mountain farm with her family.
Her presence reflects the school’s values around integrity, humility, and real relationship over visibility alone.
Maria Cristina Mendoza Vidal
Source Relationship | Sacred Mestizo Lineage, Peru
Maria Cristina remains an important source relationship around this work. Her presence here honours the lineage stream itself and the trusted bridges through which that relationship continues.
Tupaq Ttito Kunur
Alto Mesioq | Peru
Our deepest current relationship to Peru is through Tupaq Ttito Kunur. Pilgrimage with students to Ausangate and Nusta Catalina has been part of grounding mountain-based practice in direct relationship, including carrying kuyas from Siyám Smánit as offerings to the land.
Don Alejandro Apaza Machaca
Andean Wisdom Keeper | Peru
We have hosted Don Alejandro online and intend to host him again. His inclusion reflects a real and ongoing relationship within the wider mountain-based ceremonial field of the school.
Medicine Carriers in Mexico
Ceremonial Relationship | Temazcal
Our relationships in Mexico support trusted ceremonial access for students, including temazcal, within contexts that have been tended through relationship rather than assembled for tourism.
Curated Pathways for Students
A defining part of the school’s work is not only hosting teachers, but creating credible pathways into the bodies of wisdom that shape our work.
Students benefit from trusted relationships that have been developed over years and, in some cases, decades. That reduces guesswork, offers context, and allows teachings to be encountered through preparation, care, and relational accountability.
These relationships also make it possible for students to access living traditions in different ways: through hosted gatherings, lower-barrier public events, and pilgrimage to source lands and teachers when the time is right.
The School’s Ground
While this page reflects a global community of medicine carriers, the school remains grounded in the Siyám Smánit Dharma Mesa Path and in right relationship with the lands and First Peoples where we live and practice.
For us, global relationship is not about collecting affiliations. It is about participating in a more accountable field of learning, where local responsibility and international relationship strengthen one another.

Guest Teachers | Wisdom Keepers FAQ
The Shamanic Yoga Institute hosts medicine carriers, wisdom keepers, and lineage-based spiritual teachers from around the world. These include Indigenous elders, ceremonial leaders, and traditional yoga teachers connected to living lineages in places such as Peru, India, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Each relationship is built through direct experience, long-term connection, and mutual trust.
Guest teachers are not invited based on visibility or popularity, but through established relationships shaped by pilgrimage, study, and reciprocity over time. The school curates these connections carefully, ensuring that students are introduced to credible, respected teachers within authentic traditions rather than having to navigate this landscape alone.
Students can engage with wisdom keepers through a variety of pathways, including hosted workshops, online gatherings, ceremonial events, and guided pilgrimage experiences to source lands. Some offerings are designed to be accessible locally or online, while others involve deeper immersion through travel and direct study.
Learning from lineage-based and Indigenous wisdom keepers offers access to living traditions that are grounded in place, culture, and generations of practice. These teachings provide depth, context, and integrity, supporting students in developing a more respectful, informed, and embodied approach to spiritual practice, ceremony, and healing work.
While the school maintains relationships with teachers and traditions around the world, it remains rooted in its home context through the Siyám Smánit Dharma Mesa Path and a commitment to right relationship with local lands and First Peoples. Global connections are approached with care and accountability, strengthening—not replacing—the school’s local grounding.
